when I first got them I thought they were all defective. The reason was the instructions for activating say something like, “Hold Down button for 10 seconds, light will flash, and then it will chirp.” There’s a missing step in there. You need to hold down the button just until the light flashes, and then let go of the button, at that point it instantly chirps.

The best thing about the day product is its dual function as both a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. It is cost effective to purchase an all-in-one product. Also, comes in 3 pack which covers our multi-level home with a single box. Very easy to install. Great product!
